Turtle nesting activity peaks between late May and June, so drivers are urged to keep an eye out for turtles, especially near ponds, rivers, and wetlands. If you encounter a turtle on the road, it is recommended to help it across in the direction it was traveling, but be cautious with snapping turtles, as they have a powerful bite.
