A heat advisory has already been issued

The Capital Region is in for an eventful weather day on Thursday, with extreme heat and strong storms in the forecast.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with heat index values expected to reach 95 to 100 degrees. High humidity combined with temperatures in the low 90s could lead to heat-related illnesses, so remember to stay hydrated.

Later in the day, a cold front is expected to bring strong thunderstorms, with the potential for damaging winds, heavy rain, and possibly hail.

Relief is expected by Friday, with cooler and drier air moving into the region, however the heat is expected to return early next week.
