The recreation league is looking for the community's help.

The Cohoes Intermediate Recreation League has been the place that kids could play free baseball for over 70 years and now they are looking for the help of the community after a break-in happened this past weekend.

The clubhouse at the field was damaged in the break-in and all of the money was stolen from the cash register. Roughly $250 was taken from the register, which may not seem like all that much, however it is money that this non-profit league needed. It was money that the league uses to pay their umpires along with making change at the concession stand, among other uses for the money.

There is a GoFundMe set up to help with the loss.

Chief of Police in Cohoes, Todd Waldin is asking for help from those that live near or around the field -

“If there’s somebody who lives around that area who has any footage that they can check for us or just know that we will be reaching out to them as well. And hopefully we’ll be able to close this one quickly.”

With the investigation ongoing, the Chief also said that the charges that the perps are facing are serious in nature -

“It would be a burglary and then a larceny for the stealing of the property inside, being the cash. So, felony charge for sure, because they entered with the intent to commit a crime inside the building.”
