Billy Joel Cancels All Upcoming Shows Due to Brain Issue

The legendary singer had over a dozen shows scheduled, they've all been canceled.

Billy Joel has canceled all 17 of his upcoming concerts in the U.S., Canada, and England after being diagnosed with a condition called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). This brain condition causes problems with balance, vision, memory, and thinking. His team says recent shows made his symptoms worse, and doctors have told him to stop performing while he goes through physical therapy.

“I’m really sorry to disappoint everyone,” Joel said. “Thanks for understanding.”

NPH causes extra fluid to build up in the brain. It’s often mistaken for dementia, but in many cases, it can be treated. The best results happen when it’s caught early.

Joel’s last show was in February in Connecticut, where he took a fall on stage but kept performing. He had planned to return to the stage in July, but that is now on hold. For now, he’s focusing fully on his health and recovery.
