The singer/songwriter/actor died on September 29, 2020 following heart surgery. He was 78
Coincidentally, Mac Davis was also at #1 on September 29, 1972. Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me would end up spending 3 weeks on top of the Billboard Singles Chart.
