Two cars were also impounded

A high-speed joyride was cut short Sunday night in Albany when police came across an illegal street race on Washington Avenue Extension near Route 155. At least two people were pulled over, arrested and their cars impounded.

Albany Police say 25 year old Nathan Wood has been charged with illegal speed contest and speed not reasonable and prudent. Also facing similar charges is 18 year old Preston O'Neil of Nassau.

This comes as police continue to crack down on street racing throughout the city. They're asking for the public's help, so if you happen to see it - give them a call at 518-438-4000 or go to www.capitalregioncrimestoppers.com to report anonymously.
