[PHOTOS] 'Mott's Applesauce House' Destroyed in Mechanicville Fire

Nearly a dozen departments were on scene

A structure fire destroyed a vacant home on Farm To Market Road in Mechanicville Wednesday night. The Hillcrest Fire Department received a call at 9:41pm when someone driving by the home spotted the flames. When the department arrived the structure was fully engulfed and the roof had collapsed.

Due to the lack of hydrants in the area, a tanker shuttle had to be called in to keep a steady supply of water available.

Other area departments arrived on scene to help put the fire out, including Mechanicville, Halfmoon-Waterford, Clifton Park, Arvin Hart, Jonesville, Round Lake, Vischer Ferry and Malta Ridge. The Clifton Park-Halfmoon EMS team and Saratoga County Sheriff's also responded.

The fire was under control by 11:30pm, there were no reports of injuries.

CBS 6 reports the abandoned home once belonged to Samuel Mott, the founder of Mott's Applesauce.
