It's Here! May’s Full Flower Moon Lights Up Spring Skies

Keep your eyes to the Southeast tonight!

May's enchanting Flower Moon reached its peak brightness at 12:56 pm Monday, but skywatchers still have a chance to catch its glow Monday night and into Tuesday. Unlike its larger, more radiant counterparts, this full moon is a micromoon, appearing smaller and dimmer due to its position farther from Earth.

For those in the Albany, NY area, the best viewing time is about two hours after sunset—around 10 p.m.—when the moon rises in the southeastern sky near Antares, the fiery heart of the Scorpius constellation. Don't miss this spring celestial show; the next full moon, the Strawberry Moon, arrives June 11.
