Historic Clifton Park Hotel Site Redevelopment: Big Changes Ahead

A busy Clifton Park intersection will be getting a major facelift

Driving through Clifton Park, you've probably noticed (how can you not) the old Greek-style building just north of the intersection of Route 9 and 146.

That's the historic Clifton Park Hotel, which is believed to have been built in the early 1820s and operated into the 1970s. Although some work has been done over time to stabilize the building, it has sat vacant and decaying for the last 50 years or so.

However soon - the old hotel may get a new lease on life. Developer Bruce Tanski has purchased the land, according to a report by the Albany Business Review. He plans to put up two senior apartment buildings and a gas station on the 30 acre property.

There's 34,000 cars a day that go by that place and roughly 900 feet of frontage on Route 9, and a couple hundred feet on Old 146.

As for the hotel itself, Tanski plans on preserving and restoring the building, then lease out as office space.
