The owners announced the closure Thursday morning.

In a post on their Facebook page, the owners of Genoa Importing Company on Route 9 in Loudonville broke the sad news to their customers:

To our loyal Genoa Importing customers, new and old; this week we’ve had to make a very difficult decision. It did not come lightly, but due to rising costs and the economy, we have decided to permanently close effective immediately. We felt it important to close on a positive note, while we still have great pride in what generations of owners, employees, vendors, and supporters have built over the past 30 plus years.

According to News 10, Genoa has undergone a few ownership changes through the years, but has been a staple in Loudonville since the 1990s. The current owners Jason Sowek and Joseph Ogden took over the deli in 2022.
