575,00 meals will be distributed
The Regional Food Bank is set to distribute 575,000 Thanksgiving meals to 100,000 individuals across northeastern New York on November 21, marking what is expected to be the largest Thanksgiving meal distribution in the nation. With 48 distribution sites opening at 10 a.m., families will receive two bags of groceries, including traditional meal items and additional produce through the Nourish New York program. The food bank is seeking 4,500 volunteers to assist with packing and distribution, encouraging participation from individuals and organizations alike. In the Capital Region alone, approximately 50,000 people are anticipated to benefit from the initiative, which includes a partnership with BOCES to provide over 10,000 ready-to-eat meals for seniors. This year's effort builds on last year's success, significantly expanding the reach and impact of the food bank's Thanksgiving program.
