The season continues for local baseball, softball, boys and girls lacrosse teams across the 518.

In the shadow of the end of the school year, a dozen Capital Region teams are still practicing, gearing up for State Semifinals coming up this week.

In Baseball, Section 2 is sending three teams to Binghamton for this weekend's State Semifinals and Championships.  Spa Catholic is your defending Class C Champions, and continues their push for back-to-back as they face Tuckahoe at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton on Friday.  They'll play Saturday if they win in the State Championship, and could get nearby Ticonderoga, who faces Kendall in the other Class C semifinals.

Duanesburg is heading to Union Endicott High School over in Class D.  They face Long Island's Bridgehampton at 1:00pm.  With a win, they'll face either Fillmore or Oriskany in the championship on Saturday.

And Averill Park heads to Binghamton University, where they face Western New York's Grand Island on Friday at 4pm.  A win puts Averill Park in the state championship game on Saturday where they could face either Marlboro or Plainedge.

Softball is also coming to the Binghamton area this weekend.  Greenlight Networks Grand Slam Park plays host to all semifinals and finals in Binghamton.  Averill Park's girls will be playing Friday morning at 10am as they face nearby Maine-Endwell.  At the same time, the other Class A semifinals will be played between Pearl River and Wantagh.

The Fort Ann Cardinals take to the field at 11:30am, where they face Windham-Ashland-Jewett.  A win pushes the Cardinals to the Class D Finals where they would face the winner of Oakfield-Alabama and Cincinnatus.

Over in Class AAA, Saratoga Springs squares off with Lancaster of Western New York at 1pm.  In the other semifinal, Pine Bush takes on Long Island's Massapequa.

Class B's Chatham from Columbia County will play in the Class B semifinals as they face Susquehanna Valley at 4pm.  And over in Class C, Galway after a big win over Ticonderoga over the weekend takes on Pine Plains to cap the big day in Section 2 softball, starting around 5:30pm.

The Girls Lacrosse State Semifinals are Finals will be over at SUNY Cortland on Friday and Saturday.  Section 2 sends three teams to Central New York, with Shaker taking on Penfield from the Rochester area at 9am.  Queensbury plays the Class B semifinals against Victor at 11:30am.  Then Burnt Hills takes on Jamesville-Dewitt at 2:00pm in the Class C semifinals.

The Boys are different, with the state semifinals being held on Thursday at SUNY Cortland and Middletown High School, and finals on Sunday at Hobart & William Smith Colleges in Geneva.

This year Section 2 is put into the western group, and will be sending all four Sectional Champions west to Cortland.  Niskayuna starts off the evening as they face Victor at 4pm.  Like with the girls, Burnt Hills faces Jamesville-Dewitt in the semifinals at 4:30pm over in Class C.  Schuylerville takes on Syracuse's Marcellus at 6:30pm and Shaker faces West Genesee in Class A at 7:00pm.

All games of the State Semifinals and finals will be streamed for a fee on the NFHS Network, and updates will be posted on various social media sites by the teams and local media.
