Dead Body Found in Saratoga County Turns Out to be a Hoax

Mechanicville Police

Here's what it really was

What was rumored to be a dead body found in the Anthony Kill in the City of Mechanicville Thursday, was a trick. Mechanicville Police were called to the scene of what was originally deemed a 'suspicious package' that looked like a human body.

In recovering the object, which was wrapped in trash bags and duck tape, police found it was a dummy figure in the shape of a person.

On Facebook, Mechanicville Police addressed the situation:

We want to address recent rumors about a body being found in the Anthony Kill yesterday. These rumors are FALSE. Instead, two suspicious packages designed to look like a dead body were discovered and safely removed. While we can certainly understand the cause for concern, we want to assure you that this appears to be a hoax. Please help us by sharing accurate information and staying vigilant. Thank you for your cooperation.
