Country Legend David Frizzell Brings Classic Country To The Wood Theater in Glens Falls, NY
The next guest in Kevin Richards' 'Close Up' series is David Frizzell!
Country Music Royalty is headed our way on Sunday March 29, 2026 as we welcome David Frizzell to the Wood Theater in Glens Falls, NY. David is one of a few 'active' entertainers that can boast a six decade-plus career of live performances and recordings. Over the last few years, he's earned induction into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame, toured extensively and produced new music- including an All-Star Tribute Album dedicated to his brother, Lefty Frizzell.
David Frizzell is best known for his Country Hits 'I'm Gonna Hire A Wino (To Decorate Our Home)' 'Lost My Baby Blues' and his CMA & ACM Award Winning Duets with Shelley West 'You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma' 'Another Honky Tonk Night On Broadway' and 'I Just Came Here To Dance'. Moreover, his voice has carried on his brother's classic country standards 'Long Black Veil' 'Always Late With Your Kisses' 'Saginaw, Michigan' 'I Love You A Thousand Ways' 'If You've Got The Money, I've Got The Time' and so many more!
After touring with his brother Lefty Frizzell, starting at 12, he landed a record deal in the 70s and appeared regularly on Buck Owens' All American TV Show leading up to his big break, 1981's 'You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma' (with Shelley West). The song was nominated for a Grammy and took two CMA Awards for Best Country Song and Vocal Duet Of The Year. Frizzell & West became one of the biggest concert draws in Country Music thanks to the songs inclusion on the Clint Eastwood movie soundtrack of the film 'Any Which Way You Can'. David continued his hit streak with the 80s radio staple, and barroom singalong, 'I'm Gonna Hire A Wino (To Decorate Our Home)'.
Later in his career, David launched his own label to record some noteworthy projects that include a tribute to Buddy Holly, A Barnyard Christmas CD & Storybook, a collaboration project with his peers titled 'Frizzell & Friends: This Is Our Time' and an All-Star Tribute to Brother Lefty Frizzell- highlighted by new cuts of his brothers classics like 'Saginaw, Michigan' with Bill Anderson and Moore & Moore, 'Long Black Veil' with Gene Watson, 'If You've Got The Money, I Got The Time' with Merle Haggard- and he even pulled Shelley West out of retirement to blend their award winning harmonies on 'I Love You A Thousand Ways'.
If you like traditional Country Music, download some of David's projects and you'll discover some music you will love to hear again, like these stand-out tracks: 'Goodbye' with Jimmy Fortune of the Statler Brothers, 'The Way It Was In 51' and 'Lefty and Jones' with Georgette Jones.
David Frizzell joins the likes of Randy Travis, Crystal Gayle, Larry Gatlin, Aaron Tippin, Kathy Mattea, Suzy Bogguss, Pam Tillis, T.G. Sheppard, Janie Fricke, Ty Herndon, Billy Gilman, Billy Dean, Georgette Jones, Michael Twitty, Dion Pride and more as guests in Kevin Richards' 'Close Up' Series- a live stage show companion to his CMA Winning Radio Shows on Big Country 104.9/97.9 and Froggy 100.3.
