Great news! A new study by scientists in the Netherlands have found that there may be far less plastic in the oceans than we originally thought! Original estimates has roughly 50 million to 300 million tons of plastic in the ocean, but it turns out that number is closer to 3 million tons! Sure that's still a lot of plastic, but that's a lot more manageable than original estimates.
The study believes the over-estimation is related to scientists using abstract modeling and organizations doing as great job removing trash out of lakes, rivers and oceans.
