For the second straight year, the world experienced record summertime heat. The EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service says summer 2024 is officially the hottest ever, breaking the record set by... summer 2023. The average global temperature this summer was 16.82 degrees Celsius (62.28 degrees Fahrenheit), about 0.69C higher than the 30-year average from 1991-2020. This summer broke multiple records - including the hottest-ever June and August, as well as the hottest single day, July 22nd.
