With the modernization of Belmont Park underway, hosting the third leg of the Triple Crown at America’s most historic track is a win for horse racing and the Capital Region economy!
In addition to the Belmont, a four day meet will be held at Saratoga from June 6 to June 9. The Belmont won't affect Saratoga's annual 40 day season, which will go off as scheduled beginning in July.
With the Belmont Stakes moving to Saratoga, the course itself will be extended from it's traditional 1 1/4 mile to 1 1/2 mile due to differences in the tracks.
Belmont is undergoing a massive renovation, which is the reason for the move. Rumors are swirling that Belmont Stakes could also take place in Saratoga in 2025 due to the extent of the construction.
