Chatham and Ichabod Crane set to join forces.

It appears that the Chatham CSD and Ichabod Crane CSD are looking to merge together to form Chatham Ichabod Crane Football. The shared football program is looking to launch in the Fall of this year but they are still awaiting approval from Section 2.

This new program will offer 3 levels of teams: a modified team for 7th and 8th graders, a JV program and also a Varsity program. In years past, neither of the schools had enough players to field a JV team separately.

Chatham Athletic Director John Brantley told News 10 ABC -

“This merger will allow Chatham to have football as an opportunity for Chatham students as well as allow ICC to continue to improve their program to sustain football for the future.”

While Ichabod Crane Superintendent Marie Digirolamo added -

“Partnerships like this one are essential to ensuring our students have as many pathways to success as possible, both on and off the field.”

With the merger, both school districts will take on the responsibilities of the program. The Athletic Directors and Superintendents of both districts will help build a schedule for the new team. Practices and games will be split evenly between both campuses and the cost of running the program will also be split evenly. Coaching responsibilities will also be split between the two districts.

There is an informational session scheduled at Chatham Middle School on January 23rd at 6pm to discuss the merger and plans for the new program. If you're interested in getting more information on the merger you can also visit IchabodCrane.org or ChathamCentralSchools.org
