A new pro sports team is being teased for Schenectady. In a press release Monday, Discover Schenectady says the new team will play all its home games at the Armory NY Studios in Schenectady. They didn't say what sport the team would represent, but officials will hold a press conference at 11am Tuesday where they plan to reveal all the info.
The Daily Gazette speculated on the potential of a current pro sports team in the area making a move - possibly the Albany Patroons. However, Patroons GM Rocco Ricchiuti says the team is committed to playing their 2025 season at the Washington Avenue Armory.
Tuesday's reveal will come from new team owners & management, the owners of the Armory Studios, as well as state, county and city officials.
