Fresh baked goodness on the run

An vacant restaurant on Freeman's Bridge Road in Glenville will once again be serving up some delicious treats. A new bakery will soon be taking its place. This fall, the former Sky Port Diner will be the new home of Scotia Sweets Bakery is taking over the building.

Scotia Sweets owner Leigh Baker started the business out of her home during Covid and is now ready to open a storefront. In addition to the traditional counter, Scotia Sweets will have a drive-thru option. In talking to News 10, Baker said the drive-thru was an important part of the plan.

It was important to me that I stay close to Scotia, be super visible, and have zoning for what I want to do, a drive-thru bakery. With this space, I’ll be able to have both: a really cute inside space for customers to sit down and stay a while along with a drive-thru for people on the go.

Scotia Sweets offers cookies, brownies, cakes and specialty breads.

The Sky Port Diner closed at the end of 2023 after almost 60 years in business. Baker says Scotia Sweets plans to open this October. In the meantime, they will continue taking orders for catering via their website
