Governor Hochul Enacts Statewide Burn Ban in New York

Wildfires continue to rage in Orange County and other parts of the state

An extremely dry spell of weather has led to conditions in many parts of New York State making it prone to wildfires. Currently, a wildfire continues to spread in Orange County along the New York/New Jersey Border. The 'Jennings Creek Fire' has burned nearly 5000 acres. Governor Hochul has issued a statewide burn ban in response to several fires that have broken out across the state.

The threats are too great and we can not have our resources directed to smaller fires.

Portions of the Capital Region and most of the Hudson Valley are under a Red Flag Warning, where dry conditions combined with high winds escalate the chance of wildfires.
