Field set for Wednesday's Sectional Semifinals

The hockey doubleheader will take place in Schenectady

The field is down to four teams in Section 2's Division 1 hockey playoffs. 

Top-seeded Shenendehowa, Saratoga Springs, Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa and Adirondack makes up the four teams that will be playing in the Sectional Semifinals on Wednesday at the new M&T Bank Arena in Schenectady with a spot in the Sectional Championship on the line.

The first game pits Saratoga Springs and Shenendehowa against each other.  The Blue Streaks shut out the Hawks 5-0 on Saturday at the Weibel Ave Rink, while Shenendehowa had an easy time defeating CBA 7-2 in Clifton Park on Friday.   

Shenendehowa won both games this season, outscoring Saratoga 9-3.  In that last meeting on Wednesday, February 11th, Evan Wojtowicz scored three goals, and Gavin Cronin assisted three times.  The team's best scorer and 5th overall in Section 2 has 22 goals during the regular season. He's joined by Justin Dooley, who has scored 24 goals during the regular season.  Wojowicz had a goal against CBA while Dooley assisted on two goals.  

Saratoga is led by Landon Poutre, who netted 12 goals through the regular season, although he was held scoreless in the quarterfinals game against the Hawks.  

The first game faces off at 5:30pm.

The second game pits the combination squads of Adirondack and Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa together.  The Adirondack Rivermen consists of players from Glens Falls, South Glens Falls and Hudson Falls.  They are led by John Tallon, who netted a goal in Adirondack's 5-1 win over Bethlehem in the Quarterfinals.  Steve Endieveri netted a goal and had three assists.  Tallon leads the Rivermen with 17 goals this season.  But Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa has scorers, including Cameron Olsen's 25 goals as the third best scorer in Section 2 this season, and best scorer still playing.  He's joined by Tim Moynihan, who has 14 goals.  

The winner of both games play in the Sectional Championship on Monday, March 2nd at 7:00pm at the M&T Bank Arena in Schenectady, with the winner getting to move on to the New York State tournament where they'll get a home game against the Section 1 champion next weekend.
