E-Bikes are being put under the microscope

The town of Clifton Park in New York is considering banning certain e-bikes in public parks and preserves due to safety and trail disruption concerns. A public discussion was held where residents expressed worries about motorized e-bikes reaching speeds of over 30 miles per hour. The proposed change in code would allow e-bikes in pedal assist mode only, restricting faster e-bikes with throttle control. Some residents suggest regulating e-bike speed in congested areas, while others advocate for more bike lanes to accommodate e-bike riders. No timeline has been set for the implementation of new laws.
