Arrest Made Quickly In Albany's First Murder of 2025

The shooting took place on Central Ave around 5:40pm on Thursday.

Thursday evening, Albany police responded to a shooting that took place on Central Ave near Ontario Street. When they arrived they found Dewitt Miller who had been shot in the groin.

Miller was treated on the scene and then transported to Albany Med. where he unfortunately passed away due to his injuries. 

It didn't take long before Albany Police had a person of interest and were questioning him about the shooting. 34 year old Leonardo Guzman, from Schenectady, was that person of interest and he ultimately ended up being arrested in connection to the shooting.

The shooting that took place had become the year's first homicide of 2025 in the City of Albany.
