While comic books have quite a storied history, they reached massive popularity in the late 1930s. By the mid -1940s, comic books were outselling traditional books. From “Spider-Man” to “Batman” and “Superman,” we all know a little something about these sketched panel books.

So celebrate this day by taking out your old comic books and jump into a story about your favorite superhero or villain!

September 28^th 1988 over two states

The chase started in Georgia and ended in South Carolina. Police shot out two of his tires and he continued to drive on the rims for an additional 6 miles.

He was arrested on weapons charges, fleeing police, and driving under the influence. He ended up being sentenced to more than 6 years in prison, but was paroled after 3.

It was his only #1 single

by Charles E. Minches of St. Louis, Missouri during the World's Fair in St. Louis. There is some controversy over this claim, however. Italo Marchiony of New York City had filed a patent for the ice cream cone months before the fair opened – as he was selling lemon ice in cones as early as 1896.

Born September 18, 1940 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania

) marks the anniversary of the ratification of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. It also recognizes all who, by coming of age or by naturalization, have become citizens.

Dating back to the day September 17, 1787 the Constitutional Congress of the United States of America held its final meeting. Any idea why? It was to sign the Constitution of the United States of America. Although the document did not go into effect until two years later on March 4, 1789, today is the day to celebrate such a vital piece of documentation in our history!

The transition to Citizenship Day goes back to 1940 when "I am an American Day" was celebrated on the third Sunday in May. In 1952, Congress moved the date to September 17^th and renamed it “Citizenship Day.” In 2004, the official name changed to “Constitution Day and Citizenship Day.”

, it has entertained millions of children, and allowed them to express their creativity, both at home and in the classroom.

The invention was simple. A schoolteacher wanted a safe modeling clay for her preschoolers. She asked her brother-in-law Joseph McVicker, who worked at a chemical company, to come up with something. The result was simple, flour, water and food coloring.

There is no shortage of food related "special days". We are certainly glad that someone chose to create a day just for cream filled donuts. It truly is a special treat.

. This author's favorite is banana cream…but they’re hard to find. Whatever flavor is your favorite, just make sure the day does not go by, without having one or more cream-filled donuts.
