When Do Capital Region Beaches Open for 2023?

We’ve already had a couple doses of summer weather this spring – some have even opened their pools early. But if it’s a day at the beach you’re waiting for, you won’t have to wait long. Most beaches at Capital Region lakes will officially open Memorial Day weekend and continue operating through Labor Day.

Million Dollar Beach, Lake George

Quite possibly the most popular beach in the area, Million Dollar Beach on Lake George will officially open for swimmers on Saturday, May 27th and stay open through Labor Day. Although not yet made official for the 2023 season, beach hours are generally 10am-6pm daily.

Brown’s Beach, Saratoga Lake

Saratoga is the summer place to be and many make the trip to Brown’s Beach on Saratoga Lake numerous times throughout the summer. Brown’s opens on Saturday May 27th and stays open through Labor Day. Daily hours are 10am-7pm. There is an admission charge at Brown’s, but different packages are available through the Town of Stillwater website.

Grafton Lakes Beach

The beach at the end of Long Pond in the Grafton Lakes State Park area will begin its swimming season on Saturday May 27th. It will stay open daily from 10am-5:30pm through Labor Day. Use of the beach is free, but parking is $8 per car.

Thompson’s Lake at Thatcher Park

Thompson’s will open on May 27th, but will operate WEEKENDS ONLY through June 18th. Starting June 24th it will operate daily from 10am-5:30pm through Labor Day. There is a vehicle entrance fee of $8.

Moreau Lake Beach

Another popular destination, the beach at Moreau Lake State Park will open on Saturday May 27th and stay open through Labor Day. Beach hours are 10am-6pm daily. A vehicle entrance fee of $6-$8 is required, depending on weekends/holidays.
