It’s a Thanksgiving tradition that dates back almost as far as the Pilgrims! Ok, not that far, but 2022 is a milestone year as the Troy Turkey Trot celebrates its 75th year.
George Regan, the race’s long time director, told CBS 6:
The Trot began in 1916 with six runners and has grown to become one of most revered road races in America. We’re looking forward to welcoming thousands of participants of all ages to Troy Thanksgiving morning. Our event is steeped in history and a perfect way to kick off your Thanksgiving festivities!
This year’s race is set for Thanksgiving morning (11/24) and registration is officially open. The holiday event will feature a 10k, 5k, Grade School Mile, Turkey Walk as well as virtual races for those who can’t attend in person.
Funds raised from the race benefit the Regional Food Bank and Joseph’s House & Shelter.
