Eight Oscar awards will be handed out prior to the telecast. The eight awards will still be featured during the live telecast. The 8 categories are Documentary (Short Subject), Film Editing, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score) Production Design, Short Film (Animated), Short Film (Live Action) and Sound. ABC is considered about declining ratings and looking for ways to make the show a tight three hours.
